When I'm not designing I'm usually on a court, a trail, or somewhere with bad cell service. That's not really separate from the work — MadChilly started because I got obsessive about how gear looked and felt while I was actually playing in it, and I've been chasing that same thing ever since. I like making stuff that has to survive contact with the real world: shorts people sweat in, packaging that has to sit on a shelf, apps people actually tap through. If it only works in a mockup, I'm not that interested.
